Advice Topics

These are some of the areas MASH can support you with.

Safety

It’s important to know that you are not alone – there are many women working as sex workers in the UK, whether on the streets, in saunas, or in private workplaces. And your safety is important.

Sexual Health

The MASH centre has a welcoming clinical room which is a safe, private space for you to have a full sexual health screen including (Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, HIV, Hepatitis B & Hepatitis C and pregnancy testing), or a chat to our nurse,

Housing

MASH can support you to stay safe and well in your home or to find a new place.

Drugs & Alcohol

If you’d like some advice and support when it comes to drugs and alcohol, we can help. Our case workers are here to offer you support, whether you need someone to talk to, or you’d like to seek further help.

The Law

There’s a lot to know about sex work and the law; from whether or not you can get into trouble or whether you need to declare your earnings. It can feel like a grey area, but MASH and other partners are here to support you to navigate systems.

Money

Our MASH case workers can help with your basic financial situation; such as benefit claims, basic debt advice and housing.

We are MASH

For 30 years, MASH has stood by women who are sex working or thinking about it, offering non-judgemental support to improve health, safety and wellbeing.

We take MASH to women where they are at, offering support from our drop-in centre, our MASH van, in Manchester city centre, in saunas and via phone calls and home visits.

Women tell us that MASH helps them to feel safer, listened to, empowered and that in many cases it is a ‘lifeline’.
