Tabz O’Brien, Chair of Trustees at MASH, said “My seven years on MASH’s trustee board have been transformational and I’m so proud of everything we’ve achieved.
“From our brave response during a global pandemic, to growing our services and support to reach even more women experiencing disadvantages, stigma and discrimination.
“And from building new ways of doing governance and a skilled, committed and values-driven Board to developing a new and progressive organisational strategy that will centre the women we support not just as members of our MASH community, but as agents of systems change.
“It’s now time for someone else to guide us through the next part of the journey. There will be challenges along the way – not least the scale of need we are seeing and the harsh reality of the cost of living crisis for women who are facing intersecting inequalities in Greater Manchester.
“This person will have all the foundations in place, and the most brilliant and passionate team to work alongside, to absolutely hit the ground running!
“It’s the ideal moment for someone to take on this leadership role in an organisation that is so much more than vital, holistic and trauma-informed support for those who need it most. MASH is a community of people who are determined to make change – for and with – women in Greater Manchester who are sex working and facing multiple disadvantages.”
MASH’s CEO, Annie Emery said; “Tabz has made such an incredible and lasting impact on MASH’s journey during her time as a trustee and over the last three years as Chair.
“Taking on the Chair role at the start of the pandemic, Tabz’s vision and exemplary leadership enabled MASH to not only survive one of the most challenging periods in recent history but to thrive and grow. Tabz has developed an award-winning Board and has been instrumental in setting our ambitious next five-year strategy, which is already achieving our key ambitions of supporting more women. We extend a huge and heartfelt thank you to Tabz and wish her all the very best for her next exciting ventures.
“We’re really energised about our next chapter as an organisation, and we are looking forward to hearing from Chair candidates who want to join Team MASH!”
