Roles at MASH
Our friendly and experienced team at MASH have a variety of different specialist roles. You can learn more about them here.

Case Worker
Our case workers are here to get to know you and support you with whatever you might need. This could be anything from help with claiming benefits or filling in forms, to accompanying you to medical or criminal justice appointments. They are very experienced in helping to navigate systems to get you the help you need and they’ll never judge you.
You will be assigned a MASH case worker who will take the time to listen to you and let you know what options are available for you.
Drop-in Development Worker
Our drop-in development worker makes sure everything is running smoothly at the drop-in centre. They also arrange activities and get to know partners who might be able to come in and support women too.
Our drop-in development worker always loves to hear from you with suggestions of activities you might like to take part in at MASH and how to make you feel welcome.
Outreach Worker – On Foot
Our outreach worker spends time in Manchester city centre most weekdays talking to and supporting women who are rough sleeping and begging.
Thanks to our expertise and partnerships we can help with lots of things including finding a home, finance and benefits, medical support and developing skills.
We’ll never put pressure on people to access support from MASH and everything is confidential. This role is generously funded by Comic Relief.
Outreach Worker – MASH Van
Our van outreach workers are out every weeknight from 8pm until midnight in the MASH van. They drive around the beat areas – the city centre near Piccadilly and Cheetham Hill.
Women are welcome to step onto the van to speak to the team or just to get condoms, food and drink or to access the needle exchange. The MASH van is there as a safe presence on the beat and the team is there to listen and support with whatever you might need. They can also follow up with you if it’s something that can’t be addressed in the moment.
Tenancy Support Worker
Our tenancy support worker, Jane, is here to support women who settle into and stay in their homes.
She will get to know women so she can support with whatever they need to flourish in their homes including managing arrears, accessing benefits, support them to make home improvements and build networks. Her role is generously funded by Nationwide.
Housing First Worker
MASH is part of the Greater Manchester Housing First pilot scheme and we have three dedicated housing first workers who specialise in supporting women.
The pilot project aims to provide safe, secure homes for more than 300 people who are homeless or at the risk of being homeless across the region.
MASH Nurse
We have our own clinic at MASH run by our sexual health nurse, Jen. She is friendly, experienced and will never judge. She is passionate about making it as easy as possible for women who are sex working to access sexual health testing, treatments, support with reproductive health and contraception.
MASH is trans inclusive and Jen welcomes any one identifying as a woman. You are welcome to drop-in during our opening times or you can text Jen to arrange a visit on 07980 719155
Volunteers
Our volunteers are friendly, trained individuals who donate their time and energy to MASH for free. They support with everything from packing up condoms, to serving food to listening and having a laugh.
They also help us to run our needle exchange and make MASH a friendly welcoming space for everyone. They are an amazing and vital part of the team and we couldn’t function without them!
